Clearly, my charm doesn’t work on William Morris agents, investment bankers, or anyone with considerable assets. I suppose I’m okay with this. But what I’m not okay with — is men who think that dressing casually means dressing carelessly in whatever is most worn-in and within reach of his bed in the morning. Since luggage this size will hopefully never be subject to the brutal treatment of airline baggage handlers, stylish options like these four are a great way to show the plebeians how to travel in style. Our favorite options for sturdy, stylish weekend bags all have great luggage pedigrees. Despite the airlines’ inexplicable checked bag fees, sometimes it’s impossible to fit a week’s worth of clothes into a tiny carry-on and we’re forced to go with something a little bigger. If we absolutely must subject our luggage to baggage handlers throwers, conveyor belts, and TSA searches, it should be able to withstand some abuse and stand out from the masses of cheap black nylon rollers.
